When we hear the word ''gratitude'', we often think about the season of “thanksgiving,” where friends and family reunite to celebrate and give thanks to each other. It is one of my best seasons of the year, as there is so much laughter and union around that time of the year.
But have you ever paused and ask yourself what if we exercised gratitude on a daily basis?
As we all know, Implementing gratitude everyday is not an easy task to do. And as human being our emotions tend to fluctuate from time to time. Sometimes we find it hard to exercise gratitude specifically in the midst of a difficulty. Therefore, Like any other spiritual discipline gratitude requires time, effort, and faithful practice.
1 thessalonissians 5:16-18 says; Rejoice always, pray continually and give thanks in all circumstances. Several passages in the Bible talk about the importance of being grateful and continually expressing our gratitude to God no matter the situation. While talking about the importance of being grateful I’m reminded of Paul in the Bible and how he thanked God no matter his circumstances. His praises to God did not depend on how good his circumstances was. I mean let’s think about it, he wrote the book of Philippians while being in a prison cell. Which did not stop him from giving thanks to God and writing believers to encourage them in the Faith.
Likewise, I think we must mirror Paul and give thanks to God no matter the situation. And practice gratitude with our loved ones no matter the season. Because gratitude allow us to realize the goodness of God in our lives.
